Weekly
Shabbat services begin at 9:00 am and are led by Rabbi
Allen Juda and Cantor Sam Guncler. For Shabbat and festivals,
Brith Sholom uses Siddur Sim Shalom, a Conservative edition
of the prayer book, a copy of which can be found next to each seat
in the sanctuary. We use Etz Hayim, the Conservative edition
of the Humash. We also have avaiable various other editions
of the Humash for additional commentary and study.
We
ask that all congregants respect the sanctity of Shabbat
and festivals and refrain from smoking and using writing implements,
cameras, and other electronic devices. In the sanctuary, we request
that every adult, Jew and non-Jew, wear a head covering-a skullcap
(kippah or yarmulka) for men, or other form of
head covering for women. Any congregant receiving a ritual honor,
such as an aliyah or ark opening, or participating in a
minyan, must have a head covering. Jewish men should wear
a prayer shawl, or tallit, during the morning service (and
during the afternoon and evening services on Yom Kippur
and Tishe'ah B'Av). A woman may also wear a tallit,
and must do so if she wishes to be counted in a minyan.
Below
is a friendly reminder for all adults and children who enter any
Lehigh Valley synagogue, especially on Shabbat and holidays.
In
the spirit of respecting the sacred nature of all religious services
and life cycle events, please silence all cell phones and audible
electronic devices. If you must be reached by pager, please
turn the pager to vibrate. |
