Brith
Sholom's religious school provides a Jewish learning experience
for children in kindergarten through seventh grade. Kindergarten,
first, and second grades meet once a week on Tuesday afternoon. Grades
three through seven have classes on Tuesday
and Thursday afternoons. Students are expected to attend Shabbat
and holiday services.
The curriculum consists of a Hebrew program of reading, language,
and prayer. Jewish studies consist of history, current events, Israel,
holiday celebrations, values and Jewish customs. Our religious school
students receive progress reports at the end of each trimester. Those
students who achieve honor roll at least twice in a school year are
eligible for a special award.
Celebration of Bar/Bat Mitzvah is seen as a communal as well
as family milestone. Therefore, some preparation for the ceremony
is included in the school curriculum. Generally, a student will seek
additional Bar/Bat Mitzvah training with a private tutor,
and Brith Sholom can help with those arrangements.
