Location

We are eager to welcome you to the Jewish community of Bethlehem, Pennsylvania. Bethlehem is conveniently located in the heart of the Lehigh Valley approximately one hundred miles from New York and sixty-five miles from Philadelphia.

Congregation Brith Sholom at the corner of Macada and Jacksonville Roads is easily accessible via Route 22 just minutes away from Route 78. We are also within a few minutes of the Transbridge Bus Station and the Lehigh Valley International Airport.

Brith Sholom is an intimate, traditional egalitarian synagogue. If you have any specific questions about Brith Sholom or the Jewish resources in the area and cannot find the information on this website, please call or email Rabbi Allen Juda at 610-866-8009 or cbs@fast.net.

Schools

We are proud of our public school system and also have two outstanding private school alternatives. You may view information on the Bethlehem Area School District at their website www.bethsd.org. There are two elementary schools near Brith Sholom: Asa Packer and Hanover, a National Blue Ribbon School. In December 2004, the Bethlehem Area School District Board voted to send grammar school students from the Hanover Pointe and Hanover Ridge developments to the Spring Garden School. The middle school for our area is Nitschmann. The two high schools are Freedom and Liberty. At the website, click on "School/Building Directory" and the look for the school name. In the right hand column of individual school information is the website link for each school.

For those interested in Jewish education, the Jewish Day School of Allentown is located a mere eight miles away with public transportation available. The Jewish Day School is available to students in grades pre-kindergarten through eight and more information is available by contacting the school at 610-437-0721 or their website www.jdslv.org.
